Holographic Quantum Matter banner

We are proud to announce the workshop, “Holographic Quantum Matter”. This workshop is devoted to holographic bulk boundary correspondence and its ramifications in fields including condensed matter physics, quantum chaos, hydrodynamics, conformal field theory and others. The interplay of concepts relating to holography, as exemplified by the physics of the SYK models (currently celebrating their 25th anniversary) is generating remarkable progress in the understanding of "strange" metals, and other phases of strongly correlated matter ubiquitous in the physics of modern quantum materials. This workshop will take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Friday, May 4 - Sunday, May 6, 2018. It is co-sponsored by the William I. Fine Theoretical Physics Institute at the University of Minnesota and the Collaborative Research Center CRC183 of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

The idea of the workshop is to bring together experts from high-energy and condensed matter communities to facilitate cross-dialog between the fields and foster future collaborations. The invited speakers will be asked to devote part of their presentation to a pedagogical introduction aimed at the “across the aisle” section of the audience.

Participation in the event is by invitation only. We welcome participation of graduate students and post docs. Please contact us with any questions by email at
